Swipe on number 10! Foden reveals reason for choosing number 47 with Man City
- Phil Foden has revealed he chose to wear number 47 in honor of his late grandfather Ronnie.
- Foden has previously been offered the number 10 job to replace Sergio Aguero, who is leaving the club in 2021.

Phil Foden, Manchester City hot playmaker, has revealed. That he chose to wear number 47 in honor of
his late grandfather, Ronnie.
“As a young player You don’t have much choice in what number to wear. I had a choice of a few numbers sent. And none of the numbers meant anything to me. Except for number 47,” Foden
“That was my grandfather’s age when he died.
I was young when we lost you. I remember going to Wales with him and other trips. Dad said he liked to play football with me.”
“I asked Dad if Grandpa would be happy ยูฟ่าเบท if I wore this number. He said it was really good, so I took the shirt number. And I’ve loved it ever since.”
“Now I have tattoos on my body. And it’s a shirt that I haven’t seen change at all. It’s great to create your own history. It was a strange number that no one wanted. Hopefully in the future When I hang up my boots, number 47 at City will be remembered as Phil Foden.”
Foden was offer the number 10 shirt to replace Sergio Aguero.
